MIMIC ASSIGNMENT
For this assignment, I was tasked with selecting a local business and recreate their logo and create business materials that fit the brand identity. This required a fair amount of studying what assets were already in use for this company and working out how to utilize these assets effectively in advertising and for branded print materials.
First Half
The first part of this assignment was to create a simple business card and a letterhead. Using the official business website which can be found here https://sodaksports.com/ I was able to see what assets were being used and how they were being used. Once I narrowed down the patterns and fonts I began designing the media in a way that would seamlessly fit into the existing design.
SECOND HALF
For this part of the assignment, I was tasked with creating advertisements for the business I had chosen. This was to include a front and back of a 4×6 mail ad as well as a two page spread for a magazine ad.
MAGAZINE AD
Creating a two page spread magazine advertisement was the final part of this assignment. This was the biggest challenge for me on this project. I needed to establish proper hierarchy, convey appropriate information, and stay on brand. Previously I was able to identify the elements of the brand design, but this project made me understand how cohesive those design elements can be. Overall, I’m pleased with the results of this project.
