ABOUT TAGGED OUT PRODUCTIONS
My name is Mike Hoose. i was raised hunting and fishing in the North Western region of Iowa and North Central South Dakota where I currently reside. I love the outdoors and I love recording my adventures in the outdoors. You never know what you may see in any given day and having a camera around helps tell my story. Recording and editing my adventures had always been a fun hobby for me and I love to share the results of my labor with friends and family.
In 2022 I decided to broaden and improve my skillset through an education at Lake Area Technical College in Watertown, South Dakota. I was eager to hone my skills and learn new techniques to expand my skillset. Through my education I feel I’ve honed my abilities and established what I would consider to be my personal brand and business identity that I hope to use to help like minded individuals to achieve their own goals of preserving their outdoor experiences.

RECENT DESIGN PROJECTS
Dakota Lodge & Guide
Client asked me to create a post card and rack card for an upcoming convention. They made a few specific requests and provided the assets needed to complete the task. I was happy to see my clients reaction when they viewed the completed project for the first time.

DELTA WATERFOWL
I recently had the opportunity to design a page for Delta Waterfowl magazine. I was provided with the organization’s brand style guide, along with a few photos and their fonts. Additionally, I was given a title and a header that had to be included in the article.
As a longtime member of this organization, I was more than happy to take on the task. My goal was to integrate the design seamlessly into the existing layout in a way that would be imperceptible to the average reader.
During the process, I had the chance to meet the art director and designer for Delta Waterfowl, as well as a few other key members of the organization. I’m really pleased with how my design turned out and wouldn’t change a thing. It was a great project to work on, and I enjoyed chatting with the team along the way.

VIDEO CONTENT
Creating and editing videos is one of my favorite activities outside of hunting and fishing. I was always eager to pick up a camera even as a kid. Today, I enjoy the meticulous process of planning, shooting, color grading, audio work, and the final edits. Below you can find a collection of some of my projects some of which were before my time at Lake Area Tech and may appear to lack the polish my other videos do, but the passion for their creation can still be seen.

DEMO VIDEO
My final video project for school is the culmination not only of my favorite projects during my time here but also of updated video clips from some of my favorite moments before my tenure at Lake Area Technical College
Handy Pattern is a spec ad project for a fictional company that specializes in outdoor apparel. I had a lot of fun creating this commercial. I wanted to challenge myself to create something with one long continuous shot without losing visual interest. I’m happy with my end result.
In this video you can see my work in creating a rotoscope animation. I really loved this project and had much more planned when I developed it but time was not on my side when it came to the deadline for this project. I really wanted to flesh this out with colors and background detail. I intend to finish this project in my off time.
I created a hand drawn flipbook animation for my first project in my motion graphics and animation class. This was all drawn using 3×5 note cards and a lot of patience. I had fun with this project but wish I had more time to draw in some detail to my character, background, and color. Ultimately, I love how this project came out and am amazed out how so much work resulted in such a short video.
This video is one of my favorite school projects and serves as my introduction to Adobe After Effects. The project was to animate a 2d movie poster from a previous class into a 3d video. This was managed by isolating different assets into separate layers and creating a virtual camera to dolly backwards through those layers to create a parallax effect. Additional movement was created by animating the layers themselves to add subtle or obvious movement at specific points on the timeline.
I wanted to create a video that would serve as an announcement/preview of what a viewer may expect for future content. I was inspired by groups whom I follow on Youtube that would make announcements on their respective podcasts or release dedicated videos to say what they would be hunting that fall and where. I felt this would be a good opportunity to utilize the tracking and animation capabilities of Adobe After Effects and I’m rather pleased with the end results.
I have been passionate about recording my adventures in the outdoors ever since I was a kid. As a creator I think we need to look back at what we used to make and learn from those experiences. I was proud of this video when I made it, and in fact still am. But I look at it now with a more discerning eye and can pinpoint where I made mistakes that I would not allow today. I wanted to include this video as part of my portfolio because despite the lack of professionalism, you can still see the passion for what I was doing and its still there today.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I love making videos, so naturally I should love photography as well. The same can be said for photography. I would shoot on my parents Minolta whenever they let me waste some film. They also bought for me my very own Vivitar L.A. Brites point and shoot camera for a road trip to Alaska in 1994. I still have that camera today but now I shoot using a Nikon D7100 with various lenses and a Canon Rebel T8i. I enjoy shooting all manner of styles from portrait, to wildlife, night photography, and product photography. Below you will find a few examples of my work.
