GRAPHIC DESIGN

TYPOGRAPHY

A few examples of my typography projects. These were all created in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. These projects were not only introductory into the Adobe software that they were created on, but also helped me understand the importance of typography and how it may contribute to a larger project. I began to appreciate how font selection matters when considering its final application.

Logo Design

After our typography projects were completed, we were then tasked with creating logos for a company or for a t-shirt. Each student was given ten random words from a random word generator, and had to use two of those words to create a logo that was to be printed on a t-shirt. Two of the words I had were roll and cow and at the time of the assignment my wife was pregnant with our daughter. I decided I wanted to do something fun visualize this project as something I could make for her. After completing my design, I wanted to see how it would look on a mockup shirt and I was satisfied enough with the results to print it out on a baby size shirt. The hardest part here was waiting for my daughter to grow enough to fit in a 6m t-shirt.

Composite

Photoshop composite image of a subject staring into a “moon portal”. This piece is comprised of 6 different elements that were brought together to form one piece. I’m happy with most elements in this project but could improve on a few things that bother me today. The biggest challenge for me was trying to get each element to appear appropriately in a night setting without standing out from the other elements.

Adobe Illustrator: Abstract bubble world.

Adobe Illustrator: Paper cutout greeting card.

Adobe Illustrator: Infographic poster on American Nuclear Interest. I took inspiration for this project from many of the posters I would see in my breakroom at work. Additionally, we were tasked with animated these posters once we completed our designs. The animation was completed using Adobe After Effects.
